Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match winless start to the top-flight season.

And both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club board as they start the search of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham player is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
